Ariela Dawson

HNGR Intern - Wheaton College

Ariela Dawson is an art major at Wheaton College interning at Abara as part of Wheaton’s Human Needs and Global Resources program, which focuses on justice, intercultural humility, and peacemaking. Her interest in migration developed through growing up in Latin America and in immigrant communities in the US and Spain. She is grateful to be learning more about the experiences of migrants through Abara’s work and from her housemates at the shelter she lives at in Ciudad Juárez. As a photography and film student, Ari is passionate about capturing moments of beauty and human connection. She supports Abara’s Ciudad Juárez response by documenting events and programs, helping teach guitar classes and craft activities, and delivering donations. In her free time she enjoys playing guitar, baking, starting a craft project she probably won’t finish, and exploring her surroundings with a camera.
