There is so much fear. You can respond in love.

JUNE 24-47-2

Does your heart feel heavy, too?

The weight of what’s happening—at the border and beyond—has been pressing on us. We carry it with us daily. I’m sure you do too.

You’ve seen the news. Raids. Detentions. Families torn apart. There’s so much fear in the air. So much noise. So much pain.

In Ciudad Juárez, we see that pain up close. Families are stuck, waiting in limbo with no clear path forward. Others have just been deported, arriving with nothing but the clothes on their backs.

Families in shelters need food. Diapers. Soap. Clean water. They need the basics—not just to survive, but to feel safe, cared for, and human.

There’s little to no access to asylum in the US, so 2025 has brought new challenges for displaced families across the border. Those who’ve been able to move out of the shelters are now paying rent in Juárez, working, and putting their kids in school. Many need help purchasing school uniforms and school supplies; $250 per child is a prohibitive cost when you are just getting back on your feet.

We want you to know… you can meet them there.

Right now, our team is showing up, but we need your help.

A gift of any amount helps provide uniforms, food, hygiene items, and other essentials for a displaced family.

You’re offering food to someone who is hungry. Soap and water to hands that have been through too much. A moment of rest to a parent who’s been holding it together for too long. The excitement of a new school year to a child who’s missed home.

That gift—your gift—can be the difference between despair and dignity. Even in the middle of all this, there is hope—in large part because people like you keep showing up.

And your generosity doesn’t stop at the border.

From sitting with people inside a deportation tent in Juárez… advocating for families living in fear around the country… to encouraging others to love their neighbors wherever they are—by coming alongside Abara, you are helping build bridges across cities, communities, and divides.

Will you give today to help displaced families? You will support the full arc of this work—from providing food and basic supplies to long-term care, connection, and peace building across the country.

If you’ve been wondering what to do—how to respond when the world feels overwhelming—we want to gently say: this is your moment.

Not to fix everything. But to show up. To bring a little peace into someone’s life.

The world may feel out of control, but every act of love—yours included—pushes back the darkness. It plants seeds of peace in places filled with fear.

You’ve probably asked yourself lately, “Where is the hope?” Maybe, like us, you’ve been aching for some way to make a difference—to push back against the cruelty and fear with something that looks more like heaven.

One of our staff members, Rosy, recently shared that she has been reflecting on the story of Moses in Exodus 17, with his arms raised in weariness, and how others stood beside him—lifting his arms when he couldn’t anymore. That’s what this feels like. Us, together, holding up the people who can’t carry the weight on their own.

Please consider making a gift today. You’ll be stepping into fear with faith—and responding with love.

With much appreciation.
